Duterte appoints Davao Metropolis councilor as chair of Mindanao Dev’t Authority

MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Maria Belen Acosta as chairperson of the Mindanao Growth Authority (MinDA), Malacañang confirmed on Wednesday.

Acosta, who was Davao Metropolis councilor previous to her appointment, will serve for a time period of six years, Cupboard Secretary Karlo Nograles mentioned.

“The Palace confirms that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte signed on January 6, 2022, the appointment of Maria Belen Sunga Acosta as Chairperson of Mindanao Growth Authority for a time period of six years,” Nograles mentioned in an announcement.

“We want Chairperson Acosta all the most effective in her new task, and are assured that she’s going to proceed the initiatives her predecessors pursued to speed up the socioeconomic development of Mindanao,” added the performing presidential spokesperson.

In keeping with MinDA, Acosta would be the eighth chairperson of the company since its inception.

“As MinDA Chair, she’s going to lead in coordinating, harmonizing, and integrating numerous socioeconomic improvement efforts for Mindanao with  inter-regional, Mindanao-wide, and sub-regional impacts,” the company mentioned on a Fb publish on Tuesday.

“Secretary Acosta may even act because the Philippine Signing Minister main the participation of Mindanao and Palawan as nation’s EAGA focus areas within the BIMP-EAGA sub-regional cooperation, given MinDA’s mandate because the everlasting Philippine Coordinating Workplace for BIMP-EAGA (PCOBE) underneath RA 9996,” it added.
