Membership > Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions we hear.  If the answer you're looking for isn't here, please send your question(s) to info@phhcsf.com.

Q. Are day passes available for Pacific Heights Health Club?
A. Yes, we love having visitors.  Day Passes are $20.  One-week passes are $49.  If you are going to be in town for an extended time, please ask us about a temporary membership.

Q. Do I have to be a member to take classes?
A. You can purchase a day pass for $20 and take unlimited classes for the day (unless otherwise noted).  If you are only interested in yoga and Pilates mat classes, Flow Studios offers class cards. These are available for purchase at PHHC and valid for six months from date of purchase.

Q. Do I have to be a member to work out with one of your trainers?
A. Non-members are welcome.  However, you must purchase a Day Pass for $20 so that you're a member for the day.

Q. When does it get really crowded?
A. Our peak usage times are Monday through Wednesday from 6:00 - 7:30pm.  Because we have a limited number of memberships available, we are usually able to prevent the overcrowding that many health clubs and gyms experience.  No time limits of sign-up sheets here.

Q. Do I have to commit to a one-year term?
A. No, we offer both month-to-month and one-year memberships with a 30-day notice for cancellations that applies to either one.  For one-year agreements, there is a $150 early termination fee.

Q. Can I bring my dog?
A. Yes, we are a dog-friendly business.  We do ask that you only bring them if they are able to stay quiet while waiting and that they remain in our "Dog Patch" area in the breezeway while you are working out

Q. Do you have a swimming pool?
A. Sadly, we don't have the space.  If you need a pool for rehab, are training for a triathlon or simply love swimming, you may want to check out the SFJCC Koret Center or the ClubOne at the Fillmore Center.

Q. I travel quite a bit. Can I put my membership on hold while I'm away?
A. Yes, you can freeze your membership for a minimum of 1 month and maximum of 6 months, in one-month increments, and you will only be billed the reduced rate of $20 per month during this time.

Q. I need to cancel my membership. What do I need to do?
A. We need a notice from you in writing. You can fill out the Cancellation Notice Form online or stop by the PHHC Front Desk for the paper form.  Please note that your cancellation takes effect 30 days after we receive your notice (or later if you choose), and you will have full access to the club until the cancellation effective date.

Q. I keep reading about a skyroof in your reviews.  Does the skyroof really open?
A. Yes!  Click here to see a video of it opening on a beautiful sunny day in San Francisco.  By the way, that's our own Leslie Goldman, personal trainer extraordinaire, singing in the background.
